Fr. Ubald has been a priest for 25 years in the Cyangugu Diocese of southern Rwanda.  This rural, poor area of Rwanda is situated very closely to the Congo and Burundi borders on the picturesque Lake Kivu.  During the 1994 genocide Fr. Ubald lost over 70 members of his family and over 5000 of his parishioners were exterminated.  He escaped by order of his Bishop through the Congo on foot in the middle of the night.  When he left Rwanda at that time he made a promise to his Bishop that he would return to bring healing to his people.  He spent 3 months in Belgium during the genocide at which time he said that he cried every day.  After a trip to Lourdes where he heard the Lord tell him "Ubald, carry your cross," he felt a release from the burden of his sorrows and knew he was called to preach healing, forgiveness and reconciliation.

Fr. Ubald has an amazing healing gift and his focus is on healing and evangelization wherever he goes.  The Government of Rwanda seeks him out for advice on forgiveness and reconciliation as the country continues to rebuild after the devastation of the genocide.  He continues to preach healing, forgiveness and reconciliation in Rwanda, the Congo and Burundi.  He has also traveled all over Europe, the Holy Land and other parts of Africa.  He made his first trip to the United States in 2009, at the request of Immaculee' Ilibagiza, author of "Left To Tell," another , who currently resides in the US.

Last February Fr. Ubald conducted a healing service in Wyoming, where many experienced healing on varying levels.  Of special note is a parishioner, who had suffered from leukemia for over 10 years and has been completely healed. The cancer is no longer detectable according to medical tests. She is still cancer free a year later.

For the diocesan healing service in Rwanda, in Nov 2009, there were over ten thousand in attendance at a healing Mass .

The Bishop of Cyangugu has a vision of building a center of healing and reconciliation that will minister to the people of his diocese, Rwanda, and the surrounding areas of Burundi and Congo where there has been so much war, poverty and trauma.  Father Ubald is working to help fulfill this mission in any way he can with his healing services, preaching and evangelization.

When Fr. Ubald conducts a healing service he prays a full Mass first.  When the Mass is over he exposes the Blessed Sacrament.  He may preach some during this time or lead the congregation in prayers of healing and forgiveness. He will walk through the crowd with the Monstrance while praying.  When he is finished there is always time for prayer and reflection with the Blessed Sacrament exposed.  He then usually receives Words of Knowledge from the Holy Spirit about what is being healed.  He will speak those words of healing to the congregation.   When he is done he will ask for anyone to speak up if they have felt that any of the healings are applicable to them so that people may witness to each other the healing power of the Lord.  This was my experience with him but he may have other ways of doing services and healing prayer.
